Heart Rate - Free app for iPhone and iPad
Use your iPhones camera to measure your heart rate.
The applications detects how the colour of your finger changes when blood flows into it. Similar to the way that a medical pulse oximeter works.
Please note, this app is intended to be used for fun only and should not be used for any medical purposes.
Pros and cons of Heart Rate - Free app for iPhone and iPad
Heart Rate - Free app good for
Love it. The only odd thing is it has a place to put you age and sex. Not sure how those work with the app. Setting the age was very hard. I am 40 and it wanted 38 or 42.
It uses the flash on the camera to shine through your finger. Pretty cool.
I wish I could set up a profile for me and my wife and track our resting heart rate over time.
Works as advertised. Place the finger where the back camera and LED flash are and it locks on the pulse displaying it after a few beats. It locks faster than some other apps in the store and is simpler to use. The measurement stops when you take the finger off. With the casemate case the dip fir the camera lens guides the finger really well - added bonus.
Measures heart rate quickly and easily without all the annoyances of the other apps.
I quite like this little app - what a good use for the camera! Very clever.
Its a running view of heart rate. Perfect for my counselor work: clients are asked to be aware of heart rate during discussions. Wish it gave a report or history somehow to track anxiety over time. Pencil and paper works for now. I just list the heart rate range instead of an average as it sometimes changes quickly and itd be impossible to gather all data points.
Some bad moments
This app works excellent. I have been having weird heart beats and this makes me feel more secure knowing I can check it then to see if it is really my heart or something else. It is great!!
switching between 38 and 120 or asking to put finger on that I did. junk.
Love the new update of heart zone. Works great!!! Great job with this app. My all time fav :)
This app is actually somewhat accurate. I checked its results against a pulse oximeter at work and although it bounced around a bit it was still around the 75 range where I was sitting at on the pulse ox.
The rhythm it shows at the bottom is just for looks though. Thats not accurate at all.
Not a good app if you are using for workouts. I was doing interval training and in the middle of my intervals I took my HR and it was in the 90s when I was probably near 155. Junk.
I have a heart condition that cause my resting pulse rate to be a "normal" 120. This app jumps around between 50-70. Simply not possible. Not the least bit accurate
